Welcome to Beyond HVAC

There’s a lot more that goes into a family business than what you see when one of our trucks pulls into your driveway.

There are the people who answer the phones, the technicians and installers heading out each morning, the conversations that happen around the office, the celebrations, the busy days, the community events—and plenty of moments that never make it onto a service invoice.

That’s the side of Jodway I hope to share here.

As co-owner of Jodway Heating & Cooling, much of my day happens behind the scenes. I spend a lot of time thinking about our team, our customers, our community and how we can continue to make Jodway a company people feel good about inviting into their homes.

Over the years, I’ve realized that while HVAC is what we do, it’s only part of who we are.

And that’s really the idea behind Beyond HVAC.
Picture
This will be a place to share the people, stories and moments behind Jodway. Sometimes I’ll pass along something I’ve learned from being surrounded by the HVAC world or a homeowner tip worth sharing. Other times, you might hear about someone on our team, something happening in our community, a milestone we’re celebrating or simply get a glimpse behind the scenes of life at Jodway.

Most of all, I hope Beyond HVAC gives you a chance to get to know the people behind the name.

We’re incredibly grateful for the families who trust us with their homes, the people who recommend us to their neighbors and friends, and the team that represents Jodway every day.

So, welcome to Beyond HVAC. I’m glad you’re here, and I’m looking forward to sharing a little more of our story with you.

The Dog Days of Summer Are Here

By the time August rolls around, our air conditioners have been working hard for months. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned from being part of an HVAC family, it’s that the hottest days of summer have a way of reminding us just how much we appreciate a comfortable home.

Around Jodway, this is also the time of year when we see what weeks of heat and humidity can do to an air-conditioning system. The good news is that there are a few really simple things homeowners can do to help their AC through the rest of the season.

Start with the air filter.
This is probably the easiest one—and one of the most important. During the summer, it’s a good idea to check your filter about once a month. If it looks dirty, go ahead and replace it. Good airflow helps your system run the way it was designed to and keeps it from working harder than necessary.

Take a quick walk around your outdoor unit.
Weeds, shrubs, grass clippings, leaves and even mulch can crowd the outdoor condenser and restrict airflow. Try to give it about two feet of breathing room on all sides. A few minutes of yard cleanup can make a difference.

Leave those vents open.
It seems logical that closing vents in rooms you aren’t using would save energy, but most residential HVAC systems aren’t designed to operate that way. Closing too many vents can increase pressure in the ductwork and actually make the system work harder.

Try not to chase the thermostat.
I know it’s tempting—especially on those really hot afternoons! But instead of continually adjusting the temperature, choose a comfortable setting and let the system maintain it. A programmable or smart thermostat can be especially helpful if your family is away during certain parts of the day.

Pay attention when something seems different.
One thing our technicians see all the time is a small problem that gave warning signs before becoming a much bigger problem. Warm air from the vents, weaker-than-normal airflow, unusual sounds, water around the indoor unit, or an unexplained jump in your electric bill are all worth paying attention to.

The same goes for humidity. Your air conditioner doesn’t just cool your home—it also helps remove moisture from the air. If the house feels cool but still damp or sticky, something may not be working quite right.

And Before We Know It…
This is the funny thing about August in Ohio: we’re talking about air conditioning today, and before too long we'll be thinking about furnaces.

Taking care of your cooling system now and keeping up with regular maintenance on both your heating and cooling equipment can go a long way toward keeping everything running efficiently—and hopefully avoiding those inconvenient surprise breakdowns.

After spending so many years around this business, I’ve realized that home comfort usually isn’t about doing anything complicated. Often, it’s the little things we remember to do along the way that make the biggest difference.

Here’s to enjoying these last weeks of summer—and staying cool while we do it.

Beyond HVAC: A Night with the Little Ducks

Some of the best Jodway traditions have very little to do with heating and cooling.
For as long as we can remember, Jodway Heating & Cooling has been a proud sponsor of the Miracle League of Northeast Ohio, an organization that gives individuals with physical and developmental disabilities the opportunity to experience the fun of playing baseball.

For our family, this one is especially close to our hearts.
Picture
Ryan’s cousin, McKenna, has Down syndrome and plays for the Little Ducks. Ryan’s parents, Mike and Kolleen, began sponsoring the team years ago, and when Ryan and I took over Jodway, it was a tradition we were happy to continue.
Picture
This June, we got to do a little more than cheer from the sidelines.

Our Jodway crew volunteered as buddies for one of the Little Ducks’ games. We headed out onto the field with the players, helped field balls, ran the bases, talked and laughed between plays, and got to experience the game right alongside them.
Picture
One of my favorite parts of the night was meeting a boy who discovered that Ryan and I knew a little something about Mario. That was all it took! We spent quite a bit of the evening talking about Mario, video games and his favorite characters. It was one of those completely unplanned little conversations that ends up being what you remember most.
Picture
I also loved getting to experience the night with our Jodway crew. We spend plenty of time together at work, but there’s something different about stepping outside of our normal roles and doing something together simply because it’s good for our community—and fun.
Picture
Watching the Little Ducks play is a pretty great reminder of what sports are supposed to be about. There was excitement over every hit, plenty of encouragement, lots of smiles and an entire field full of people enjoying the game together.

We may have gone there thinking we were volunteering to help with a baseball game, but I’m fairly certain we walked away having just as much fun as the players did.
And that’s exactly why this is one Jodway tradition we’re proud to keep going.

Stay cool. Stay cozy. Stay Jodway.

Beyond HVAC: A Little Friendly Competition for a Good Cause

For the past three years, Jodway Heating & Cooling has been proud to sponsor the annual Accelerated Fitness Golf Outing—an event that brings people together for a fun day of golf while supporting someone in our community.

Each year, Accelerated Fitness chooses a cause close to their gym family. This year’s outing was held in memory of Bob Nagucki, a longtime member of the Accelerated Fitness community who passed away in January after a seven-year battle with cancer.

We were happy to once again be part of the day—and this year, we brought a little Jodway competition along with us.
Picture
Ryan and Steve teamed up for one foursome, while Jesse and Troy teamed up for another. Ryan and Steve are both on our service side, and Jesse and Troy are both installers, so naturally it became Service vs. Install.

There may have been a little friendly competition involved.
Picture
I golfed with friends this year, but of course we had to get the whole Jodway group together for a photo before everyone headed out on the course.

Days like this are one of the things I love about being part of a local business. We get to support organizations within our own community, spend time together outside of work and, in this case, help honor the life of someone who meant so much to so many people.
Picture
Thank you to Accelerated Fitness for continuing to organize an event that turns a day on the golf course into something much bigger. We were honored to be a small part of it—and we're already looking forward to next year.

As for who won the Service vs. Install competition?

I think we’ll let the guys tell that story.

Stay cool. Stay cozy. Stay Jodway.

For What’s Next: A Week in Texas

5/4/2026

In April, Ryan and I packed our bags and headed to Texas for the first-ever Bryant Factory Authorized Dealer National Meeting — which also happened to be the first trip to Texas for both of us!
Picture
The theme of the week was “For What’s Next,” and it felt especially fitting. Our days were filled with presentations, conversations with other Bryant dealers from across the country, and training classes that gave both Ryan and me plenty of ideas to bring back home to Jodway.
Picture
One of my favorite things about meetings like this is simply being surrounded by people who are passionate about what they do. There’s something energizing about spending a few days learning, sharing ideas and hearing how other businesses are growing and serving their customers. I always come home ready to hit the ground running.
Picture
The week wrapped up with a beautiful awards ceremony and reception, where Ryan and I had the honor of walking across the stage as Circle of Champions award winners. It was a pretty special moment for us and one we were very proud to represent our entire Jodway team for.
Picture
There was only one thing missing... red jackets!

Bryant has a longstanding tradition of presenting its signature red jackets to dealers who reach certain milestones and achievements. We didn’t come home with ours this time, but that just gives us something else to work toward. Earning those red jackets is officially one of our goals.
Picture
And, because apparently an HVAC meeting can also result in a new family member, there’s one more part of this trip I have to share.

Bryant reintroduced the Bryant Pup at the meeting — an adorable Boston Terrier — and I completely fell in love with the little guy they brought on stage. By the time Ryan and I got home from Texas, the puppy search had begun.
Picture
Not long after, we found Max, our own cuddly Boston Terrier.
Picture
So we came home from Texas with new ideas, new goals, a Circle of Champions award... and, indirectly, a new puppy.

I’d say it was a pretty memorable trip.
